Several Region 4 members recently attended the IAWP Conference in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.  Joining me at the conference were Glenda Antuna, Atlanta, Georgia Police Department; Angie Holt. Georgia Department of Public Safety; Gale Buckner, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice; Linda Mayberry, United States Department of State, Bureau of International  Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs; Cindy Shain, Southern Police Institute; Kelli Edwards, Lexington, Kentucky Division of Police; Anneva DeConto, United States Department of Homeland Security; and Pam McDonald, United States State Department.

The above photos show members attending the opening ceremony and lunch and the annual business meeting.

Cindy Shain conducted a workshop entitled "Positioning Yourself for a Successful Career and Beyond."  She led participants through an interactive discussion and examination of their own career paths and strategies to position themselves for success.

Cindy Shain and Linda Mayberry moderated two panels during the conference.  The first session was a United Nations Women in Peacekeeping Panel.  The second was on the topic "Diversifying and Mainstreaming Female Police Officers."  It highlighted strategies implemented to support the inclusion and mainstreaming of women into all areas of police services in agencies throughout the world.

Angie Holt was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees at the conference.  Former IAWP presidents and executive directors serve on the board.
